Pangea Consulting Completes Network Management Rollout For Publisher McClatchy
San Jose, California, October 10, 2000 - Pangea Consulting, an organization specializing in IT Consulting and system integration, announced today the completion of a contract with The McClatchy Company to provide advanced network monitoring and management using Computer Associates newly released NetworkIT 2.0 software. NetworkIT is based on the industry leading Unicenter TNG technology sold by Computer Associates.
The McClatchy Company has operations in four regions - California, the Northwest, the Carolinas, and Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. The company publishes 11 daily and 13 community newpapers with a combined average circulation of 1.35 million daily and 1.8 million Sunday. Over the years McClatchy's newpapers have been awarded numerous Pulitzer Prizes, including three coveted gold medals for public service.
Newspapers in each region are connected over a Frame Relay network. The recent addition of Peoplesoft business applications to their network meant that they needed 24x7 monitoring of this mission critical software.
"We selected Computer Associates NetworkIT software based on their enterprise management capabilities and distributed architecture based on Microsoft's SQL Server database system," said Richard Perry, IT Director for McClatchy. "Pangea Consulting installed the software on a RAID server and provided all of the customization for our LAN and 13 site Frame Relay network."
"We had McClatchy send us their server and we did all of the network discovery and SNMP customization across a VPN using Redcreek's Ravlin hardware encryption technology. We preconfigured the VPN unit and sent it to Sacramento. The next day we had it up and running," said Michael Tharenos, President and CEO of Pangea Consulting. "Once we completed the network management station, we drove it up to Sacramento and provided them with hands-on training on how to use the system."
Founded in 1990, Pangea Consulting is an organization specializing in IT consulting, support and system administration.
